The Walkdown is a Brit inflected indie rock band from Chicago.
It is led by singer/songwriter/guitarist Michael Mazza who fronted the Chicago indie rock band Collectors for several years prior to forming the group. Joining him are Walter Kiefer on bass/keyboards, Erica Loftus on vocals/percussion, Taylor Morse on lead guitar and Phil Valenti on drums.
With touchstones such as Oasis, Primal Scream and The Rolling Stones, the group's debut single “The Distance (Gets in the Way)” was released in March 2020 and achieved some nice success, most notably spending several weeks on the Radio Indie Alliance Top 40, peaking at #3. The single also achieved airplay on the large terrestrial radio station WKQX in Chicago and its Demo 312 program.
In 2022 the quintet released their second single, the breezy, melodic and guitar centric "Jane Doe". It's part of the Pop Aid Project, a 3-CD compilation consisting of unreleased song contributions from 63 artists around the world. All proceeds from sale of the CD benefit World Central Kitchen, supporting their efforts to help the citizens of war-torn Ukraine.
