From South Coast NSW, the Water Runners have taken their high energy blend of original, bluegrass-infused contemporary Australian folk to venues and festivals from Sydney to the Snowy, Tamworth to Tathra and beyond. Tight harmonies and strong musicianship combine in a high-energy stage show that engages and entertains. Their 2019 album 'Point of No Return', recorded under the guiding hand of Australian bluegrass and country legend John Kane, proved popular with audiences and led to the band making the finals of the Tamworth Songwriters Association Awards in 2020.
The Water Runners were voted best band in the Australian National Busking Championships 2020 and performed for Sounds Australia Folk Alliance Isol-aid Folk Unlocked in 2021.
Experienced musicians John Littrich and Neil McCann (formerly of Wongawilli) on guitar and banjo/mandolin, combine with the talented Danita Harris on violin, James Turk on double bass and Dom Littrich (who has been making a big name for himself drumming with South Coast Rockers, Pacific Avenue as well as performing as his alter ego BIG Twisty) on percussion.
In early 2021, the band recorded a new album with award-winning producer Matt Fell, which was released in mid-2021. The album was recorded to capture the band's authentic live sound. Listen and kick back as The Water Runners take you on a musical journey through historical tales and down South Coast trails!
PS New album being recorded in 2025 with Syd Green (Kasey Chambers). Stay tuned
