Red Noise, the first studio album by The Wednesdays, is an intense and versatile collection of rock songs written throughout the better part of two years. A collaborative effort, the album is a reflection of the differing tastes that has led to the members of The Wednesdays coming together.
The song Generation Lost introduces the album and serves as a letter of intent. Drawing inspiration from both britpop and swedish indie-rock, Generation Lost, coupled with the songs Lonely, How Sweet To Feel and Fools Don’t Change is a quartet of infectious and energetic indie-rockers. These songs are contrasted by the heavy-hitting Paranoid, Misery Girls and Poison, songs more closely related to modern punk and garage rock. The album is closed by the rock-ballad Neon Lights, a worthy final to the effort put into the project by the members of The Wednesdays.
Red Noise isn’t very complicated, the album’s focus lies on intense and dynamic melodies coupled with subject matters and lyrics that we believe are universal. It is, quite simply, a collection of good rock songs, something we hope you’ll agree with.
