The Young Xp

Hailing from the north Chicago suburb of Evanston, The Young XP mixes styles of rap, alternative rock, pop, EDM, and house. In high school, XP released his music exclusively on SoundCloud with collaborations from <a href="spotify:artist:16v1nUohJ1kWdzaCXvXCG2" data-name="Jack Rutstein">Jack Rutstein</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:17unL08l0QQgMOndf0E4MS" data-name="Connville">Connville</a> before moving to all platforms in 2018. Before graduating high school, XP dropped three mixtapes: Restless, <a href="spotify:album:0Ddw4bymeCVlHKdeBgeh6E" data-name="Kid Cosmo">Kid Cosmo</a> &amp; <a href="spotify:album:6m05D4MyA3AZmUqeq5COhh" data-name="The Covid Collection">The Covid Collection</a> as well as album in his reverse series <a href="spotify:album:5ShX23P96NKIq1g01jtq00" data-name="Expansion 3">Expansion 3</a>. Since graduating, his music saw a shift with rock, pop, and EDM influences on the double EP <a href="spotify:album:30ZxTKy085JFj0d4TmQaaC" data-name="Down">Down</a> (featuring fan favorite <a href="spotify:track:7ibV4770aVnpEcgrfS4TQ5" data-name="Weird &amp; Crazy">Weird &amp; Crazy</a>) and <a href="spotify:album:328F3czO2vZgnmihCxICeW" data-name="Xpansion 2">Xpansion 2</a> (the sequel to <a href="spotify:album:5ShX23P96NKIq1g01jtq00" data-name="Expansion 3">Expansion 3</a>) and dance album <a href="spotify:album:4la0zWEO4S7A1qyFLGPITm" data-name="A Night out on the Town">A Night out on the Town</a>. Fan favorite <a href="spotify:album:7foWIG5FYU80i4SWOxHlOP" data-name="in love with the idea">in love with the idea</a> released in the fall of 2023, following his single <a href="spotify:track:2CJKgKmEzw1Xlig13TNoiU" data-name="Paradise">Paradise</a> with <a href="spotify:artist:16v1nUohJ1kWdzaCXvXCG2" data-name="Jack Rutstein">Jack Rutstein</a>. The duo’s first ever collaboration album, Tiger Coast, took a different shift after fans were asking for the joint project for years. Variety reported that XP’s next solo project, with no release date in sight, will be “a rock album, a testament to the music that shaped who I am”. Currently, XP plans to step back for a while to pursue his career as a filmmaker, telling fans “the music will come when it can” (per Esquire).
