Formed in 2006 by guitarist Michael Neumeister and drummer Patrick Curley, Theater of the Absurd play dark and dramatic progressive metal. The group is inspired equally by its love for '70s prog rock, avant-garde metal, philosophy and literature. Joined by Chandler Mogel (Outloud) on vocals, their 2013 full-length The Myth of Sisyphus was acclaimed for its idiosyncratic instrumentation, penetrating lyrics and unique melodic sensibility. The band is preparing to release Death in Aspiration in 2019, an ambitious new production that incorporates a string quartet to further embellish their inimitable sound.
