theonlywass (born Wassim Noman) experienced more in his childhood than most do in their whole lifetime. Born in the USA to an American mother and Yemenis father (an ex supplier for the New York Mafia and on the FBI’s Most Wanted list). at the age of 5, he had already lived in America, Yemen, and America again before the FBI sent him back to live with his father for good.
Ironically, it was in Yemen that he discovered American hip hop. He quickly fell in love with the music of Tupac and other hip hop icons, which helped him continue to learn English while being immersed in Arab culture.
As a teen, Wassim witnessed war, death, and the destruction of his home firsthand following the invasion of Yemen by the Arab Coalition.
These experiences made a lasting impact on him, and he returned to America alone, vowing to achieve greatness for him and his family.
While a student at the University of Oregon, Wassim embarked on his rap career, adopting the name “theonlywass” (a nod his singular journey and vision) and founded his own brand, Arab Money Entertainment. His fast and aggressive style of rapping soon gained local attention, and his energetic songs about the hardships of home, party life, and struggles of a Middle Eastern man living in America made him stand out from other artists in the area. Tracks from his debut mixtape gained him broader attention, and his subsequent single “Kamikaze” has propelled him to new heights in the rap game.
