What do you get when you combine bourbon, caffeine, and crippling self-doubt? Toronto-based punk outfit there there might be the answer. Since forming in June of 2018 there there has been writing non-stop. After months of eating ramen, crashing on couches, and living in studios, they have started toying with the idea of taking themselves seriously.
Having been lifelong friends and after collaborating in separate projects in the past, Austin Henderson (Black Absinthe), Andrew Thomas (Aukland), Sean Corry (Literally Nothing), and Joseph Frustaglio (Brave Young Soul) decided to take the Voltron approach and merge into a being greater than the sum of its parts.
Working out of Boombox Sound (Born Ruffians, Rural Alberta Advantage, Diana), there there are currently self-producing their debut EP entitled “from bad to worse”. The release is a prime example of the varied influences and musical backgrounds of the band. Stylistically, the music combines guitar-driven punk and strong pop songwriting sensibilities with a healthy appreciation for analog synthesizers and the chiptune music of there there’s collective childhoods.
To say the least, it’s been a hectic few months for there there. At their core, they’re just punk rock boys with a DIY or cry attitude and they’re stoked to see what’s next to come.
