Moving slowly like life itself, five people represent this in the noisy sounds of “Threat of Joy.” Freedom of expression to the point where we have no clear identity in our music. We play, we enjoy it, and that might be our genre. If the world doesn't need to categorize things, perhaps we are one of many who do, but our music intersects with post-rock, midwest emo, spoken word, and alternative rock.
Threat of Joy combines the feelings of its five members: Alif Muhammad and Bagas Wahyuda on guitar, Lavedo Rangga on bass, Mumammad Zaldi on drums, and Rendra Caesar on vocals and “possibly” synthesizer. These five people met through school friendships and playing the card game “ceki.”
The long short story, Threat of Joy and the people in it show how uncertainty, emptiness, absence, and all the feelings that make a person feel that their life has lost meaning.
Life might be worse, but we always try and hope.
