Ever since I picked up a pair of drum sticks, I have felt like a musician. As if it were the only thing I would truly know how to do. In many ways that didn’t turn out to be true. I have found myself in teaching English as it’s something I feel I’m good at, and really enjoy doing.
Still, deep inside resides my desire to create in the musical realm, in fact, I don't feel as if I am creating, it feels as if the music is, in reality, creating itself. It's as if it knocks on the door of my mind and asks to come out. For that reason I learned how to play a little guitar, record, mix and master all myself. That way I can get it done in my own time with no pressures. Although, a little collaboration can certainly go along way!
I can't really state my influences exactly, I think in part because I just have too many! What woke me up from a childish pop faze was Motown which was something I discovered as an enormous Micheal Jackson fan at the release of the bad album. But, being entirely unsatisfied by the way he moved forward musically, I started searching through his back catalogue to then discover Motown, funk, blues and, I would love to say jazz, but I was, and still probably am, a little confused by Jazz.. Anyway, since my "musical awakening" I just tend to like what I like. It can be any style of music, I guess it just has to feel right, and maybe, honest in some way. And if there’s anything I search for in my music, it’s to be as honest as possible…
