Based in East Texas, Timothy Robert Salzman’s music has been described as “Americana music with Lone Star grit”. Timothy Robert Salzman's musical career began singing lead vocals with an Austin, TX area band called Texicana - a Robert Earl Keen tribute band. TRS's music is influenced by several renowned Texas artists. He can't help but smile as he recounts the story of his introduction to the Texas outlaw country music genre:
"Do you remember when the first Apple iPod came out? You know, the boat anchor with the black and white screen and the click wheel? I'll never forget riding in an old rickety work elevator with a co-worker named Sean. He brought out his new iPod and demanded I listen to his collection of Robert Earl Keen music. The first song I heard was a song called Undone. From that point forward I was hooked on this genre..."
Over the subsequent years, TRS played in several bands incorporating his own songwriting into the set lists. His music has been enthusiastically received where ever he plays. TRS’s unique song writing style covers several genre's and paints vivid pictures while bringing a Texas flare to lyrical story-telling.
When asked why he doesn't use his own vocals much on his records anymore he smiles and says: "I found out my songs sound much better when I'm not the one singing them. But seriously, the songs deserve more than my vocal skills can deliver and it's never been about me -- it's about the music and the message."
