On March 21st 2011 in Lexington, Kentucky I began writing, recording and posting one song a day to a tumblr I called Todays Hits. I kept the practice going unbroken for 1,037 days* until finally a phone (that was my last chance left to keep the streak going) was stolen in Chicago, Illinois on January 24th 2014. I had moved to the bigger city to be closer to my newly born nephew on November 5th 2011, his first birthday, and took residence in my older brother’s tiki bar basement. The story is loosely a motion picture that was the first film sold at Sundance in 2014. Six days before the phone was stolen for those keeping track at home. Featured in the film is a song written about clerking the liquor store I worked in playing while I, portrayed by the lovely Anna Kendrick, am exiting the bar in which I happened in to one Sunday to watch a Bears game and walked out of with that liquor store job. Try to make that up. Then try 1,000 more.
*The day Amy Winehouse died tumblr went down and I couldn’t post the song I made.
