Born in March, 1964 in Churubosco, Indiana, Todd Harrold's interest in music began as a child and found him interested in a diverse and eclectic mix of artists and genres including The Beatles, Nat "King" Cole, and African music. Harrold was soon playing piano, guitar, trumpet, and drums, and writing songs before he reached his teens. While in high school, he won several awards and honors as a member of his school's jazz band. Putting together his own band in 1992, Harrold released Feels Like Rain, which was followed three years later by Crow, both albums receiving solid reviews from both rock and jazz publications. By 1996, the group had been pared down to a trio consisting of Harrold on drums and vocals, Tim Beeler on bass, and Jim Reiske playing guitar (as well as having co-produced the two earlier albums). The trio issued Back From Dreaming in October of 1996, finding Harrold again blending jazz, funk, reggae, and world music. The group has proven to be a popular live draw in the Midwest, including festival dates and opening slots for Freddy Jones Band and The BoDeans. In 1999, Harrold released Mr. Whatever through Wall Street Records. ~ Tom Demalon, Rovi
