Tomoko Omura is a composer and violinist. Named #1 Rising Star Violinist by Downbeat Magazine’s Critics Poll in 2021, she has released five albums as a leader. Her latest album, “Branches Vol. 2” (Outside In Music, 2021) was named Bandcamp’s “Best Jazz of 2021”. She has played at internationally renowned venues including the Village Vanguard, Lincoln Center Appel Room, Smalls, SF Jazz Miner Auditorium, Newport Jazz Festival, Blue Note, among others and has performed and recorded with many of today's leading artists including Paquito D'Rivera, David Broza, Fabian Almazan, Camila Meza, David Amram, and more.
Originally from Shizuoka, Japan, she moved to the U.S. to study at Berklee College of Music and relocated to New York after. She became a mother in 2020 and is living with her son, her partner and her cat in Brooklyn.
