Toy Savoy is the amalgam of shoegazy soundscapes, grandiose harmonies and uplifting melodies. Drawing inspiration from childhood heroes like Paul McCartney and Brian Wilson, they explore a dreamy state between youthful bliss and a growing self-awareness. Their sound has been described as psych-pop, and according to Doubtfulsounds, bearing resemblance to acts like Field Music, Temples and Tame Impala in their Lonerism-days.
Since their debut at Trondheim Calling 2017, the group has established themselves as a solid underground act in their home city of Trondheim, filling up local venues like Lokal Scene and Knaus, but also performing at bigger events like the 2018 Stokkøya festival. Their debut EP was released in May, and has been recommended by the German magazine Visions and the French Indiemusic, who called it "the future of Norwegian pop". They are currently working on their next recording, scheduled for release in 2020.
