Traitor's Burden

Traitor's Burden is a modern progressive metal group from the cold outskirts of Jyväskylä, Finland. The band combines complex, rythmic riffs and growling with melodic choruses and dynamic song structures. Originally formed as a project of guitarist Mikko Wilmi and drummer Roope Salminen, The duo quickly realised they needed other members to fulfill the sound they were looking for. Through the power of internet they found singer Miika Kiljala, bassist Joona Hakkarainen and guitarist Jere Janatuinen, completing the quintet.

The band was officially founded in summer 2017, and they soon began working on their first release “Elder Silence” which was released in December 2018. After the release, the band were looking to to add a more dynamic feel to their future music. A lot of time was spent on constructing unorthodox melodies and unique soundscapes that would bring songs closer to the actual sound the group was looking for. They made a mutual decision to keep future recording as DIY as possible. This way they were able to keep their creative vision as sound as possible in the studio. As an end result, “A Taste of Violence” was released on 28th of August, 2020. The songs were more musically diverse and melodic while still keeping the band’s metal roots intact.
