Latin pop/rock foursome from Ecuador Tranzas was formed in 1986, led by singer/songwriter and guitarist Douglas Bastidas, debuting live while playing at 1987's Rock Total festival. In March of 1988 the band recorded its debut album, called Sueño Astral. A year later, Tranzas came in first place after participating in a rock contest sponsored by MTV. In 1990, original drummer Jorge Ponce decided to leave the act, soon, Alfonso Velez took his place. The group's breakthrough came after issuing Ciertas Teorias, achieving the Best Rock Band and Most Popular Group awards in 1995. Televisión Satelital released 1996's Parte De Ti, in addition, the band had the opportunity to sign up to BMG/Ariola, making an international edition of that same album. In 1998 Tranzas' Por Siempre was produced in Miami by Ray Sánchez. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi
