Tree Cage is a new wave rock band currently based in Berkeley, CA. With vocals by Lu Agnew, bass by Lev Kaplan, and drums by Misha Scott, the upbeat rhythms and catchy melodies of their songs culminate into a wonderfully danceable alt-funk sound.
Their first project, Flower Power Pirate Camp, was written and recorded in the historic Kingman Hall, formerly known as the Living Love Center. In the late 1970s, the Living Love occupied this space. Since then, it has been turned into a fifty-person student housing cooperative which still embodies many of the love-centered traditions of the cult. The lyrics and psychedelic feel of the song pay homage to the culture of Kingman Hall, the current home of all three artists.
