I grew up in a little area known as Utica, Kentucky. It’s about 10 miles south of Owensboro, Kentucky. Dad was a mechanic and my mom is a teacher. My backyard growing up was just woods, and there was little creek down the road called Two Mile Creek. I use to ride my fourwheeler down there and just enjoy the silence, and listen to the sound of the water. Music runs in the family, as one of my earliest influences growing up was my Uncle Amos. I got to sit and watch him pick the guitar like no other, and still to this day haven’t met a match for him. He passed when I was only 11. My Pepaw Charley was also a country singer, he toured around America in the late 1970’s, opening for a lot of big time singers. He recorded several albums with his band during that time period. That was before he settled down in Owensboro in the early 80’s and opened up his bar, The Yellow Rose. As a boy, I grew up listening to all the old country singers. Singers such as Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, David Allan Coe, Jimmy Buffet, etc. I also always enjoyed southern Rock bands such as Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker, and the Allman Brothers. Creedence Clearwater is a big musical influence of mine as well. I was a teen during the rap boom of the 2010’s, so there’s that. I enjoy almost all genre’s, and look to experiment with many different kinds of music over the course of my life. No matter what, however, country will always be where I gravitate back to, and where my roots will always stay.
