b. 1923, Hope, Arkansas, USA. This talented blues pianist played in his college orchestra before joining an R&B band led by Jay Franks. The band also featured Nelson Carson on guitar, and Cooper co-wrote Franks’ ‘Fish Tail’. After 1950 Cooper played in the Drops Of Joy, the popular R&B combo led by Jimmy Liggins. When he was traced by blues historian Jim O’Neal in 1976, he was the director of the Co-operative Education office at the University of Arkansas in Pine Bluff.
