Comprising Jean-Claude Blanc, Frederic Paris and Willy Soulette, Trio Cornemuse are French traditionalists specialising in the instrument which gives them their name - the cornemuse, or French bagpipes. Paris also plays flute, clarinet and piano. Drawing their repertoire from the traditional dance songs of the Berry and Bourbonnais regions of France, they also write some original material, mainly composed by Blanc. Their 1993 debut album for Silex Records, Berry - Bourbonnais, took its title from their regional flavours, and included three songs sung by guest vocalist Solange Panis as well as exemplary polkas and reels.
