‘El sonido de los mapas’ (2012), Tripulante Y Crucero’s debut, was a fresh breeze all over Spanish music scene, sometimes obsessed by labels and trends. The record presented an unashamed collective of multinational origins (spanish, canarios, cubans, french, Americans, Venezuelans…) who mixed pop, rock, samba, afropop and folk music effortless.
With a deep melodic sense, the band made a huge leap forward with their sophomore effort (‘Los pueblos, 2015’), adding psych textures, electronic blips and all kind of percussion to the sound, defining a more contemporary side. Nylon guitars, fuzz electric guitars, ukuleles, drum machines, female vocals, loops… all of those ingredients conspired to create a music hive that wrapped the listener’s ear.
After an intense tour, the band released in 2018 ‘Meseta selva’. More west African sounds, bossa nova, samba and mediterranean flavors… A trip around the world docking in a thousand musical harbors with perhaps the deepest and most emotional tracks of their career.
Now, in early 2020, Tripulante y Crucero shares three brand new tracks of their own blend of evocative fusion-pop. From the Brazilian bossa nova of ‘Fuerteventura’ to the afropop fragrances of ‘Jornalero’ and the frontier-inspired ‘Las palabras’. This new wonderful and exotic EP brings their best songs to date. Recorded and mixed in Infinity Studios in Madrid by the Baselga Brothers.
