Emerging from South Africa’s experimental electronic underground, trxstxssx builds melancholic, sample-driven soundscapes that blur ambient, glitch, and blown-out downtempo. Drawing from the atmospheric tension of Shlohmo, the deconstructed minimalism of Actress, and the occult pop distortion of SALEM, his work explores emotional collapse, digital ghosts, and the sacred absurdity of modern connection.
His early release THE PIPE DREAMS I’LL FIND stitched together field recordings, lo-fi samples, and distorted memories. Follow-ups like IN YOUR SERAPHIC LOVE and his bootleg edit of Nelly Furtado’s Tap Dancing further cemented his style: saturated, cinematic, and intentionally unstable.
trxstxssx has collaborated with a diverse range of artists including Jaco van der Merwe (Bittereinder), FRNGE, Tzara, The Woodz, palmdrive, Rap Man Gavin, Odous, Rose Bonica, and dj premium timeflex. His music forms part of the Chamber Collective, a loose-knit label and movement pushing the darker, fringe edges of music.
Praised for his unique aesthetic vision, trxstxssx remains unpredictable, introspective, and defiantly out-of-sync.
