Trygve Waldemar Fiske has distinguished himself as one of Norway’sleading jazz bassists and a rising star as a jazz composer. In 2023 he wrote the piece “Songs for SeRa. Compositions 1 -7” for the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. The premiere got 6 out of 6 in the paper and was called one of the best premiers ever in the TJO history. In 2021 he composed a commissioned piece for the Trondheim Jazz Festival, and premiered with Trygve Fiske Sextet. The commissioning work Cycles Recycled was written for Jazzfest in Trondheim and Festspillene in Kristiansund and has become a playful and energetic electro-acoustic performance. Cycles Recycled was composed for sextet, and not just any sextet either. Next to him on stage, Trygve Fiske has gathered a sparkling ensemble with some of the hottest musicians in the Scandinavian jazz scene today. Two fantastic pianists (Oscar Grönberg and Morten Qvenild) , a strong horn section (Per Texas Johansson and Erik Kimestad Pedersen) and an infinitely inventive drummer (Hans Hulbækmo), in addition to the boss himself. Electroacoustic jazz meets thoroughly composed themes with great improvisational freedom, playfulness and positive energy! The album The Flowers, the Dance, The Rumble and the Stumble will be released march 21st 2025.
