<a href="spotify:artist:1WCm8CXsOSCFpSWqDNDn65" data-name="Taleen Kali">Taleen Kali</a> & Teddy Bloom's friendship blossomed as they sent each other mixtapes between L.A. and Chicago. When Taleen moved back home in 2011 the two started jamming, blending her love of goth/shoegaze and Teddy's pop-riot sensibilities to create TÜLIPS: dreamy, punky noise pop with a riot grrrl bent. Soon after, they found a drummer and began to play local DIY and zine shows, Taleen and Teddy trading off on guitar and bass with Travis Barnes on the drums.
After recording their LP, “Doom & Bloom,” mixed by <a href="spotify:artist:5vEVGRTK6nIX5LbLGX2btj" data-name="Brad Laner">Brad Laner</a> of ’90s U.S. shoegazers <a href="spotify:artist:61uYVpJPgBq9dNrfUy6kTp" data-name="Medicine">Medicine</a>, they expanded to a 4 piece adding bassist Miles Marsico and sharing bills with bands such as <a href="spotify:artist:3n2689NB8LE4EaQJyRy5jH" data-name="FEELS">FEELS</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2LdMozrLZExZ27oOAnUgkb" data-name="Ex Hex">Ex Hex</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0Vll0SNLozOGHbfHbjY4pv" data-name="Sloppy Jane">Sloppy Jane</a>, and more. Their final show was presented by The Poetry Foundation in March of 2016 at The Regent Theater with and Eileen Myles and <a href="spotify:artist:07jzGOUZPTxV5PyuqXA6Sp" data-name="Bouquet">Bouquet</a>.
They reunited virtually in June of 2020 during the Black Lives Matter movement to release "<a href="spotify:album:4kZ4PbupEwkLHgZfF2uudZ" data-name="Panda">Panda</a>," a song recorded in 2016 about police brutality. All sales for "Panda' will be donated to Black Lives Matter ad infinitum. In November 2020 they released "<a href="spotify:album:1EwGoIyqSoFUzUm9m0F1ED" data-name="Love Chain">Love Chain</a>" to celebrate the 5 year anniversary of their LP "<a href="spotify:album:2CcSmPPLEGWvnY6NN2OGub" data-name="Doom & Bloom">Doom & Bloom</a>."
