Turning Eleven was an eclectic pop/rock band from Portland, OR. Their music featured silky melodies layered over chiming guitars, hypnotic grooves, and heavy rock riffs. Lead singer Casey Parker stood out with her sensitive, soulful vocals, and drew her energy from a tight-knit trio: Boone Johnson on guitar, Michael Swanson on bass, and Tony Howard on drums. They drew their influences from vocal artists like Tori Amos and The Sundays as well as rock bands like Live and R.E.M.
Turning Eleven formed as a vocal/guitar/bass trio in 1997, and played many shows in Portland until finally finding a solid drummer in 1999. That fall they went into the famous Jackpot! Studio and recorded their self-titled, debut album. They played the Portland circuit heavily until summer 2000, when the band took a hiatus. They were getting ready to record their second album but it was not to be, as the band never got back together. Boone Johnson and Michael Swanson continued to play together, eventually forming the guitar duo Moon and Bike.
