The scorching hot summers seem to have an effect on music that comes out of Florida. At least that seems to be the case with Tampa-natives Turnpike South. With high energy hooks, heavy duty drums, and guitars cranked to 11, the country-rock duo is sending a surge from Tampa to Nashville with their edgy spin on modern country music.
Supported by a brotherhood, producer/guitarist Shawn Papineau and singer Trace Coppedge are bringing seemingly separate worlds together.
Papineau’s background in the modern metalcore and hardcore scenes, melded with Coppedge’s old-school, down-home roots, shine like the Florida Sunshine in their debut single Bring It Back, an anthem for the dreamers of the world.
“This song is special to us because it serves as a reminder to ourselves, as well as to others, that life is short, and to make the most of the time we have here,” says Papineau. “Take that chance, live your best life. That’s what I feel we captured in the studio with Bring It Back . Our dreams of taking our late-night jams with a guitar and a case of beer from the porch to the rest of the world are like gasoline on a fire in our studio sessions. We are very excited to show the world who we are, and bring some energy to the music that we love.”
The genre-bending, Sunshine State duo will be releasing their first EP in early 2024.
