Undersea Poem is quite a fancy name for a group that's essentially a duo, plus numerous guests. The pair who make up Undersea Poem is Chris Root and Juju Stulbach, who had previously been two-thirds of the American-Brazilian band Mosquitos, which they abandoned in 2007 after three albums. Undersea Poem rose from those ashes, with the group's eponymous album being largely written in a small Mexican town, where Root and Stulbach (a couple, as well as working partners) spent a month, using "guitar, bass, a reverb pedal, coconuts, magic mushrooms," Root said. In 2010 they released their eponymous debut, with co-producer Scott Hollingsworth fleshing out the sound on several instruments. ~ Chris Nickson, Rovi
