An experimental future with a traditional background!
Unganisha means to join or fuse in Kiswahili and is a dynamic duo consisting of a traditional musician from Kenya - Labdi Ommes (Orutu and vocals) - and an experimental electronic artist from Norway - Bernt Isak Wærstad (electronics). They're always looking for new ways to bring east-african traditional music, western experimental art music and electronic club music together. Bits and pieces from our two cultures are used as building blocks to create a new, culturally re-synthesized and unique style of music!
Unganisha's live shows are known to be energetic and pulls even the most resistive ones out of their chairs! The last years Unganisha have played extensively in Norway and Kenya including Beneath the Baobabs, Oslo World, Mela Festival, The Mist, Bergen International Music Festival, Goethe Institute Nairobi and byLarm!
