Stage guitarist turned producer Gabriel Maga spent most of his formative years in Vancouver, BC, where the underground rock scene shaped his lifelong flair and musical affinities. Gradually transitioning from live performances to producing—and eventually immersing himself in the city’s mid-2000s beat-making culture—he became entranced by the sound of the clubs. This led him to produce and DJ his own beats across Europe and Asia. At this juncture, he reconnected with the vibrant music scene in his hometown of Bucharest, where the eclectic mix of rock, pop, and EDM provided the canvas for further refining his studio wizardry, resulting in national mainstream hits. These days, he’s conducting his own electronic music experiment under the alias UNKLFNKL (pronounced “uncle funkle”), blending electro with deep house, techno, slap house, hip-hop, and a flirtation with pop.
