The Unlimited Four’s career came and went in an instant. With only three singles on Pulaski, TN’s Chanson Records, the band—buttressed by Joe butts, Bobby Davis, Willie Vaughn, and Ronnie Foster (later replaced by Charles Nelson Jr.)---remains an enigma. All that remains for the archive are six roaring sides that blend funk, soul, and a dash of surf, all embellished with Butts’ caramel-smooth vocals.
