Unstrumental is Calabasas High School's award winning contemporary a cappella ensemble. Founded in 2001, the group is led by Calabasas High School's Music Director, Joshua Barroll, and voice and performance coach, Alana Weiss. The group's many accomplishments include being three-time champions of the Los Angeles A Cappella Festival Scholastic Competition (winning first place in 2019, 2018, and 2014, numerous awards for staging, and Best Soloist every year they have competed) and being featured performers at Carnegie Hall in 2019 and 2015 as part of Deke Sharon's "Total Vocal" a cappella concert. Other credits include being features at the 2019 National A Cappella Convention in Memphis and the 2017 Kettering AcaFest, as well as traveling to China in 2015 for a 19 day, 5 city performance tour.
