Unwelcome

Unwelcome was an innovative and experimental band from the Milan area, Italy, that defined a unique sound between 1985 and 1995. Their music, a combination of rock, progressive, jazz, fusion, and acoustic genres, captivated audiences with its bold originality and dynamic arrangements.

Formed in the mid-'80s by Giovanni d'Ammassa (guitar, keyboards), Raimondo Bellantoni (guitar, guitar synth), Giorgio Abbiati (drums, percussion, drum programming), and Giuseppe "Muzi" Passera (bass, fretless bass), the band quickly evolved. By 1987, they were composing and performing their own material, blending intricate rhythms and melodic complexity. In 1988, the addition of Roberto Romano on sax and flute further enriched their sound, while Claudia d'Ammassa joined on keyboards, adding a new layer to their performances.

The band's first live concerts, starting in 1988, became a showcase of their ever-evolving style. In 1989, Denis Morelli joined on bass, and by 1990, Giuseppe Pippo Caporale took over bass duties, solidifying the lineup until 1995. Percussionist Massimiliano Peri also joined from 1990 to 1992, contributing to their complex sound.

In 1994, Unwelcome released their first official album, Buonalaprima, which marked a milestone in their musical journey. Known for their electrifying performances, the band became a staple in Milan's live music scene, leaving a lasting legacy in the local music culture.
