Uwharria was formed in North Carolina in 1999 by longtime friends, environmental activists, and bandmates from other bands with the primary goal of writing love songs to their home ecosystems and other bioregions around the world, while also calling attention to destructive forces that threaten the flora and fauna found there. Uwharria was inspired musically by a wide range of hardcore, crossover thrash, NWOBHM and boogie. The band unknowingly played their last show in 2005 and never got back together as members now live in scattered places across the planet.
