UZUAZO is a Nigerian and Canadian Hip-Hop artist, producer, and
songwriter whose sound bridges cultures and continents. Born in Lagos on November
22, 1996, he traces his heritage to Isoko (Ozoro, Delta State) and Igbo (Arochukwu,
Abia State) roots. He grew up between Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Paris, where his
family relocated for his father’s work, before attending boarding school in Yaoundé,
Cameroon. These movements exposed him to a wide range of sounds and
perspectives that continue to shape his music.
UZUAZO began creating music in boarding school—writing, producing, and recording
cyphers with friends during lunch breaks. Influenced by Odd Future, Lil Wayne, M.I,
Wizkid, and Drake, he developed a fearless and expressive approach to Hip-Hop. At
14, he moved to Vancouver, Canada, where he completed high school and honed his
craft, blending the pulse of Lagos with the experimental energy of global rap culture.
In the past year, UZUAZO has opened for Rema at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena,
released Lag Freestyle and Wetin Dem Fit Do—which earned 100,000+ streams and
major playlist placements—and appeared on top Nigerian media outlets including
Cool FM, Rhythm 93.7, Silverbird TV, and Clout Africa. He also completed his
latest EP, Wings Can Grow Anywhere, and launched UZU Entertainment Inc.
With his borderless sound and authentic storytelling, UZUAZO stands out as one of
the most exciting new voices redefining African Hip-Hop on the world stage.
