Vakakina, that is the sound that the wind makes when it blows strong...

Vakakina is a musical project mixing rock, metal, tribal music of French Polynesia. This new musical “wind” was born in the Marquesas Islands at Nuku hiva in 2011. This project was initiated by the singer and guitarist Tekuhei Kaiha of which he is the only author and composer.
In 2014, Tekuhei decided to leave Polynesia to join the Easter Island and continue his career as a tattoo artist. He took his songs with him. After a break, it was only in 2016 that he decided to record in Santiago de Chile his first EP (5 tracks). He met Francisco and Oscar Arenas and Alvaro Poblete, talented Chilean musicians who would eventually follow him and record his first album entitled Tokotahi (“alone”).
In 2017, Tokotahi was released on the various digital platforms as well as their first video clip in black and bench. This first single is called “Toù moemoea”.
Between 2016 and 2019, Vakakina performed on different stages, one of which is best known in Chile: the Tapati Rapa nui, Easter Island cultural festival.
Since then, the band has returned to the studio to record new songs. The preparation of the album is almost finished. It will include 9 tracks, one of which is partly sung in Spanish. A real evolution will be noted for this new opus and will mark the identity of the band. The release of the first single is estimated for the end of 2020.
