Valentine's Day has been described as a "low rent Beatles rip-off," but really they are also a Weezer rip-off. Their music has been called "actually pretty good" by friends and relations of the band members. Their debut album, 'Good, Clean, Christian Fun', was called "catchy but need[ing] refinement" by the Brandeis Hoot. It's a whole mess of things: sunshine, pop punk, sad boy lyricism, and what some could interpret as 'irony'; and is guaranteed to knock your socks off.
Their sophomore release, 'The Year We Cancelled Our Cable Subscription', is a more serious and complicated take on the culture around us than their prior release. It deals with the disconnect and disillusionment people have with trying to make things better. It has some fun, goofy tracks and some powerful ballads. But whatever your taste you'll find a song that speaks to you on this album.
Valentine's Day currently consists of the pals Dane Leoniak, Max Monheit, Evan Sayer, Nate Rowe, and Sam Stern.
