Vanraj Shastri is a Sarangi player and vocalist from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, with deep roots in Indian classical music. Starting at 8 with classical vocal and tabla at the Saptak School of Music, he trained under the late Pt. Dhruba Ghosh and continues learning Sarangi from Pt. Nayan Ghosh at Sangeet Mahabharati, Mumbai.
He earned second place in the All India Radio Music Competition (2019) and twice at national-level competitions during his bachelor’s and master’s in vocal music. In 2024, he represented India at the BRICS Melody Festival in Russia.
Vanraj has performed with legends like Pt. Nayan Ghosh, Pt. Yogesh Samsi, and Pt. Rajendra Gangani at major festivals and collaborated with the Budapest Art Orchestra on “Chinari Dreams.” With extensive performances across North America, Europe, Russia, Dubai, Malaysia, and beyond, he also teaches Sarangi and vocal music, sharing India’s classical tradition worldwide.
