VHS King

Dear Spotify Listeners,

Thanks a ton for listening to my music! VHS King is my musical project which doubles as a therapeutic release in my attempt to work through my current existential crisis. My music is what I would describe as a “thrift store of vintage emotions”, as my inspirations range from 80s educational documentary soundtracks, retro film photography, and a lifetime of being too nervous to talk to girls.

I grew up in a small town in California you’ve never heard of and was homeschooled from Kindergarten to 8th grade. My public high school career was, as you could imagine, a drastic transition for my teenage self - but I knew I was destined for great things when I made the practice squad for my high school’s tennis team my sophomore year. My quirky upbringing and oddly sheltered childhood helped shape my influences into a hodgepodge of miscellaneous genres, including gospel, 80s pop, electrowave, and whatever emo bands my older sister would listen to in her room.

It is my greatest hope and dream to one day have my very own VHS King cassette tape being sold in the .25 cent section of a record shop, but until then, I hope that my songs can ignite a sense of nostalgia or give you an excuse to dance alone in your bedroom at night.
