VÏKÆ [Vee-Kay] is a ghost draped in crimson crushed velvet. Ukrainian born and New Zealand raised she is shaped by the quiet violence of contrast and the ache of feeling torn between places. A classically trained musician with too many feelings and too little polish for perfection, she found sanctuary in alt pop which is the only place chaotic enough to hold her.
The music recalls the melancholic fire of KAZKA , the elegance of ONUKA , and the experimental voltage of LUNA. It's folklore filtered through a synth with magnetism that’s a little haunted.
VÏKÆ now sings in three tongues: Ukrainian, Russian, English; carrying ancestral echoes and electric truths where she’s no longer asking for permission to speak them.
After FINELINES burned its way to #5 on the NZ charts, and Love Games Deluxe blurred genre boundaries in 2023, VÏKÆ now disappears into something deeper. VÏKÆ has brought her spellbinding live show to some of Aotearoa’s biggest stages including Bay Dreams, Mardi Gras, Deep Hard ‘n’ Funky, Summer Sounds, AUM NYE, and Soundsplash to name a few.
2025 marks the beginning of a new era: Raw, ritualistic, and ancestral. The synths are colder. The truths are sharper and the light never quite reaches the centre.
This isn’t reinvention.
It’s resurrection.
