Who would have thought a random meeting between two strangers in the wrong uni class would lead to the formation of Villain - a high energy fusion of rock and indie-pop with dark surfy undertones.
Villain started after Rowan Florence (Vocals/Guitar) went into the wrong uni class. There he met Alexander Popoff-Asotoff (Vocals/Drums) and during the annoying icebreaker activities, the pair bonded over a shared appreciation of Wayne's World and good tunes. With high school friends Greta Andrews-Taylor (Bass) and Chris Mackenzie (Lead Guitar), Villain went on to relentlessly gig and release their debut EP "The Other Side" followed by the single "Brand New Day"
After a 6 year hiatus and itching to get back into playing after the COVID era, what started as a project to record some of their old tunes turned into the reformation of the band, with Corry Dyball joining on lead guitar. After a sold out return show at the Sewing Room and the release of a new singles "Flicker" and "I'm Around", their latest single "Fox Hunt" will be their last with Andrews-Taylor and Dyball. With new members Nicholas West (Bass) and Alex Fenton (Lead Guitar) the band continues on its mission to deliver its high-energy blend of surf and 60s rock inspired indie-pop to the people.
"These kids must have been practising in the womb to be this tight at such an early age."
