Villi Magg

My name is Villi Magg and I am a singer and songwriter from Iceland. In 2008 I started regularly playing troubadour bar gigs. It gave me a good start and in 2012 I joined my first band and soon after that I started to write my own music. Now I am a member of the blues-oriented band called The Cuku Contraband.

Recently I released a song called “Á bak við fjöllin” which is a single and a memorial song about close family members who died in 2001 and 2002. My newest release Vibrato Blues is a mix of many genres; pop, blues and jazz. Most of my upcoming songs are blues songs and (cigar box) slide guitar songs written in English.

My music influence come from all over and I love listening to good music no matter the genre. Like so many other people I started young listening to records and developing my own taste in music. If I had to list down few artists that are influencing me today it would be these bands: The Rolling Stones, Seasick Steve, Muddy Waters, Rev. Peyton´s Big Damn Band, Pokey LaFarge, Cat Lee King & His cocks and The Delta Bombers. I am also influenced by many Icelandic musicians.

Ég er tónlistarmaðurinn Villi Magg og er búsettur á Höfn í Hornafirði. Ég hef lengi starfað sem trúbador og verið í hljómsveitum, bæði ballböndum og tónleikaböndum. Í dag starfa ég í hljómsveitinni The Cuku Contraband serm er blús drifið tónleikaband.
