Vinnum

Born Lloyd S. Robinson II, in Kalamazoo, Michigan....


Vinnum an idea brought to life in a Detroit basement.


Growing up in Kalamazoo son of a bass player, Lloyd had an affinity for music at a young age. Starting off on Kalamazoo’s Southside, (the 700 block of E. Vine St.) he stayed only houses away from his mother’s twin and a slew of cousins.


Watching his cousins rap in cyphers in the mid 90’s only grew his love for music & words, so much so that he soon started on the road as an artist himself.


In the mid 2000’s his family moved to Detroit, MI where he had trouble dealing with his new surroundings and began to find himself depressed. In a fight to battle his depression, Lloyd started making beats on a drum machine his father had and started writing lyric of his own. Thus creating “Vinnum” a moniker created to pay homage to the street he knew and loved in Kalamazoo.


The late 2000’s, during his freshman year of high school, Vinnum experienced another new change in location, Lansing, MI. Where he’s found his footing and is locally paving a way for himself and others headed to greater things musically and beyond...
