Vinyl Williams

Vinyl Williams is the musical project of Los Angeles-based artist and musician Lionel Williams. Lionel began making music under the alias in 2007 and has since gained a reputation for his unique blend of psychedelic pop & dream pop, as well as his maximalist 3D art & interactive worlds.

Williams’ music is characterized by its lush and immersive soundscapes, with layers of elusive instrumentation and vocals, creating dreamy and hypnotic atmospheres. Drawing inspiration from a wide variety of sources, he&#39;s leaned toward self-recording artists such as <a href="spotify:artist:3ZqRIzadY4WYQEg4Hj2vGC" data-name="Robin Guthrie">Robin Guthrie</a>, Patrick Flegel of <a href="spotify:artist:2uf32eac3VFGHBonRKaLXQ" data-name="Women">Women</a> &amp; <a href="spotify:artist:0TZExq5Dma8hecEIAKwQYA" data-name="Cindy Lee">Cindy Lee</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7JXwnoNAAY276k8wZVmpYf" data-name="A.R. Kane">A.R. Kane</a>, Greg Saunier of <a href="spotify:artist:7AZwAitWq1KcFoIJhRWb6V" data-name="Deerhoof">Deerhoof</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3ZMUNnwvFihTTyI1tx5hao" data-name="Curt Boettcher">Curt Boettcher</a>, Martin Newell of <a href="spotify:artist:7ppwXAQNWfPDGu22hCk5Yr" data-name="The Cleaners From Venus">The Cleaners From Venus</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:0Lpr5wXzWLtDWm1SjNbpPb" data-name="Todd Rundgren">Todd Rundgren</a>. In addition to his work as a musician, Williams is also a visual artist and has created artwork for his own album covers, as well as interactive music videos and point-and-click websites. He is known for his vibrant colors, futuristic architecture, and abundantly biodiverse landscapes, which all reflect his interest in harmony, theoretical structures of space-time, and the divine.
