Welcome to the 'Violet Sound'!
The VIOLET QUARTET, based in Germany, use very special means to make their quadrophonic surround sound concerts a unique experience: The singer and three electric violinists stand in the four corners of the concert space. In between them, the attentive listeners are taken on an unusual sound journey that navigates a path to new cover versions of well-known pop songs, some of which haven’t been heard for years.
Unconventional playing techniques and the use of live electronic effects allow the four musicians to expand on the familiar sound of string instruments: Some of the violins are equipped with bass strings or they are played with mallets and chopsticks, plucked with plectrums, or conventionally stroked with bows. They often process and loop the resulting sound with electronic sound distortion.
The outcome is a completely new listening experience that offers the listener an astonishingly dense spectrum of sound. It can open up spaces of spherical reverberations, provide a driving beat, or generate stark electronic sounds.
New in the quartet is the wonderful Anke Müller, who enchants us all with her charismatic voice. The new program contains several well-known pop classics, which have never been heard before in the combination of electric violin and hypnotic voice.
After the great success of the elaborately produced first music video, the curiosity of their fans for more songs is enormous:
New songs will be released soon so stay tuned.
