The unique edge to Visszaesők’s music is that all their songs are rooted in Hungarian and Carpathian folk tunes. Hence the band’s name (“Backsliders”): no matter how far they go in exploring punk and ska, they always relapse into authentic folk music.
Their lyrics are an introspection of what it means to be young in today’s age, exploring topics like finding your way in the world, taking responsibility for your actions, and challenging authority and societal expectations.
Since their debut concert in 2021, Visszaesők has been an increasingly known band in the Budapest underground scene. They’ve played at many of the city’s clubs and smaller venues. Their upbeat, high-energy music gets everyone dancing.
Released in 2023, their first album Pincemustra features lyrics recorded by their original singer, Tamás Kiss. Although he’s no longer with the band, the guys are grateful to him for helping get Visszaesők started on their journey of becoming a band in the Hungarian alternative scene. Now they welcome Bálint Nagy, who brings a deep knowledge of Hungarian folk music, and a heightened energy to the stage performances.
Releasing in the spring of 2025, Magadnak Haránt is the band’s second studio album. The record features more complex music, all while keeping up the presence of authentic folk melodies and powerful riffs. The lyrics also became more serious, mostly discovering the topic of dealing with dark thoughts and standing up against the negatives of life.
