Vivamagnolia rose from the embers of frontman Patrick J. Hodgen’s Lo-Fi rock project Zeal in late 2019. Having become known in Belfast for fragility and fury in equal measures, tantalising songwriting and jarring production, Hodgen was encouraged to professionalise by the late Lyndon Stephens, the owner of the acclaimed Quiet Arch Records (Joshua Burnside, Dark Tropics, CHERYM), and promptly put together a debut EP - Queen of the Rodeo - released in March 2020, only months after Stephens had passed away. An eclectic mix of music Hodgen had been recording from his studio, the need for expanding became realised when Vivamagnolia, now a four piece group, released the standalone single 990 Miles to great acclaim. Routinely played on KEXP and BBC introducing, Vivamagnolia had shaken their lo-fi roots without losing any of their surrealist appeal.
“Vivamagnolia is guided by the trails of cosmic cowboys and troubadours (…) The words are sad and the music sounds perpetually fit to collapse in a heap of perfect ruin.” - Dig With It
“A truly unique sound... the type of music that you can envision sound tracking a Tarentino movie” - Chordblossom
