Voidbloom formed in the winter of 2019 from a collective unrest with the state of heavy music.
Drummer Nick Cates, having spent time in the caustic mathcore outfit Mouthbreather, had been
talking about doing something with vocalist Bill Jackson who he knew from recently disbanded
MA hypergrind crew, Shroud. After a few configurations of members they picked up Howie Snow, also from Shroud, on bass. The style was coming along but
still hadn't hit that level of "Holy shit we're on to something here!". Dan Wolfson stepped in with an extremely uncategorizable yet familiar style of riffing. Voidbloom's sound became apparent: perfectly cohesive disagreement.
Voidbloom strive to shape their sound with the tools it has at hand: uneasiness, unrest, anxiety,
anger, and brief moments of lucidity and beauty. On its debut release "The Tongues of God"
you'll hear turbulent, dissonant riffs aided by lurching basslines and a foundation of percussion
with a focus on fills and backbeats. A voice that is seething with exasperated rage combined
with said instrumentation guide the listener through songs dealing with: suicidal daydreams, the feminine/masculine struggle within, a friend's poem about being trapped, grandstanders and
liars, and appreciation of people who help you through the darkness.
Voidbloom live is both therapy and an exercise in bending a plethora of metal and hardcore
subgenres to its will.
