In the springtime of his life, Vojta, the aspiring offbeat popstar from Prague, Czech Republic, was already known within the Czech music community as a songwriter for many, social media manager for some, and stylist for the rest.
In early 2021 he’s teamed up with <a href="spotify:artist:5lBKaKxYgHlXRIsxJQZELc" data-name="Tom Sean">Tom Sean</a> to record his own music. It all started with the single <a href="spotify:track:3KVrOCn41RMynO5Es0Zrpj" data-name="IN YOUR CAR - Edit">IN YOUR CAR - Edit</a> recorded during the quarantine, when the two got literally locked in a studio for weeks, followed by the groovy and gospel-inspired sophomore single <a href="spotify:track:4X2z0Gh3pLwwTs6n28Sl8d" data-name="In Flames">In Flames</a>.
In January 2022, Vojta released the first fruit of his collaboration with saxophonist and producer Petr Janda Jr., titled Letter from Limbo. Musically, the song comes off as more experimental, glitchy, and dark, than Vojta’s earlier work, which fits its theme of living with BPD.
Vojta, born in 2001, had always been exposed to essential albums thanks to his father, a music geek and former cultural journalist. Therefore, his work got heavily influenced by <a href="spotify:artist:0oSGxfWSnnOXhD2fKuz2Gy" data-name="David Bowie">David Bowie</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1aSxMhuvixZ8h9dK9jIDwL" data-name="Kate Bush">Kate Bush</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7w29UYBi0qsHi5RTcv3lmA" data-name="Björk">Björk</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6tbjWDEIzxoDsBA1FuhfPW" data-name="Madonna">Madonna</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:163tK9Wjr9P9DmM0AVK7lm" data-name="Lorde">Lorde</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4Z8W4fKeB5YxbusRsdQVPb" data-name="Radiohead">Radiohead</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3g2kUQ6tHLLbmkV7T4GPtL" data-name="Fiona Apple">Fiona Apple</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2Mu5NfyYm8n5iTomuKAEHl" data-name="Ms. Lauryn Hill">Ms. Lauryn Hill</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7G1GBhoKtEPnP86X2PvEYO" data-name="Nina Simone">Nina Simone</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6Q192DXotxtaysaqNPy5yR" data-name="Amy Winehouse">Amy Winehouse</a>, and the likes.
Such influences can be heard on his debut single IN YOUR CAR (“listening to Bowie, I still see us as zeroes / just for one day, we could be real heroes”) and will be a reoccurring theme on the upcoming ‘what a wicked youth’ EP.
