Volkova

Volkova has been an impossible-to-miss figure of the Hungarian alternative music scene, navigating with impeccable taste between folk, indie, electronica, and even sacred music. She is best known for her duo, Muzsik es Volkova, where she plays and sings alongside her brother. She has also gained recognition as a member of the decorated a cappella group, Napfonat, and the Folkfonics band.

For the first time, Volkova stands all alone by the microphone. In the Volkova project, she threads together countless strands of inspiration, culminating in a real gem of the singer-songwriter genre.

The Volkova solo project showcases her every strength: her roots in folk culture, her apprenticeship of the Hungarian singer-songwriter pantheon and her thorough understanding of the unique qualities of her voice. The result is a confident and magnetic sound that is quintessential Volkova.

Volkova takes on the role of the messenger as she reaches down to Russian folk songs that decorate her childhood memories – traditional songs of beauty, the power of which cannot be overshadowed by recent events .

In songs she herself authors, Volkova accompanies herself on piano, guitar, accordion, ukulele, and percussion instruments, and she does not shy away from her secret ingredient either: silence.
