Vuehateno (pronounced view-ha-teh-no) is the creative outlet for Jean-Philippe Roche, a Bellevue, Washington–based artist by way of Miami, Florida. Roche has been messing around with music for years, but things really took off with post-hardcore band Unarmed For Victory, where they spent time on the road touring across multiple states, sharing stages with well-known acts they looked up to, and honing their craft. These experiences laid the groundwork for a deep love of intensity, connection, and DIY ethos.
These days, Roche channels that energy into something more experimental and introspective. As Vuehateno, he writes, produces, mixes, and engineers every track himself — blending gritty textures, atmospheric pads, ambient synths, and post-hardcore instincts into what he lightheartedly calls “organized noise.”
Often joined by longtime friend and collaborator Gabe Monjaras (aka Holy Colors), the project has become a kind of escape hatch — sparked by creative late-night sessions and profound conversations. Influenced by the likes of Mike Shinoda, Cannons, The Midnight, Circa Survive, Tatsuya Kitani, and Washed Out among others, Roche crafts enveloping soundscapes rooted in tension, contrast, emotion, and a constant search for self-understanding.
